Hundred Islands
Alaminos City Mayor Nani Braganza was guest speaker in the 10th Regular Meeting of the Rotary Club of Dagupan. He laid out his plan for the city's main tourist attraction, the Hundred Islands National Park, which shall not only benefit his city but the whole province of Pangasinan. The current statistics on local and international visitors to Hundred Islands is 100,000 per year. This is low, as to the quality of tourism they want to attract. Mayor Nani recently launched the Tour de Hundred Islands cycling race, where the cyclists toured the usual US Servicemen's route going to the Hundred Islands, charting through Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera. The estimated combined population of these regions is 20 million. If five percent of them was reached by the news of the Tour de Hundred Islands, this is translated to an awareness to one million local tourists on the launching of the New hundred Islands. On September 29, the city will be launching the opening of the development of the islands. No less than the japanese Ambassador to the Philippines will grace the occassion. A raffle draw will be conducted and the lucky Japanese firms or entities will be given the privelege to have an island named after them for one year. The adopt-an-island program will be open to all interested private investors, who shall develop the island in accordance with eco-friendly planning that the city has designed. In adopting an island, the investor will be required to set up amenities that will make visitors feel at home, such as airconditioning units, portable toilets, floating houses, etc. The mayor is also promoting the new beach he is developing and he is inviting investors to visit. They call it the Bago Beach. He also mentioned the relaunching of the Alaminos longganisa at the SM Mega-trade Hall. He said his team is now studying the possibility of making the longganisa longer and bigger.
