Acting Mayor reiterates need to maintain city hall upkeep

Acting City Mayor Alvin greets Ms. Expedita Callanta, city director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, for her birthday celebration, which coincided with the weekly city government department heads meeting last September 5. Discussed during the meeting were several vital issues facing the city, such as garbage, waste management, dengue cases in the city, outdoor advertising materials, regulation of water refilling stations, regulation of communication towers, upgrading of schedule of fees, informal settlers mushrooming near the cemetery in Bonuan Gueset, and health insurance for barangay volunteers. Concerns of the Dagupan City Police Station, reduction of operation cost and maximization of resource at the city hall, implementation of biometric time keeping to all offices (not just the SP), networking of computers to adopt paperless departmental communications, were also taken up. The following recommendations will be strictly enforced to maintain the upkeep of the city hall: Consolidation of all photocopying machines in the vacant area under the SP building; Round the clock monitoring by utility workers of the maintenance of utilities, such as dripping air-conditioners, leaking faucets, grounded electrical wirings, and cleanliness of comfort rooms; Regular cleaning and unclogging of drainage, canals within the compound; Maximize utilization of sanitary garbage receptacles in the compound to deter indiscriminate littering; Maintenance of the landscaping of the City Hall; Consolidation of all bulletin boards of departments so the public will have to go to only one bulletin board. A computer should also be accessible for public use to enable them to know the current updates in the city; Removal of unnecessary stickers that have become eye sores within the City Hall compound; Designate a parking lot for motorcycles; Enclose a space for the area being utilized by the Anti Hawking Team; Monthly general cleaning of the city hall with the assistance of Fire Trucks to flush out dirt and odor and other undesirables that could be eliminated using water and organic chemicals.
