They were interested in the fish processing, particularly bangus, since it is their main product being a coastal municipality with seven coastal barangays out of 29 barangays in their municipality, which has a population of 60,000. What they will learn from the Lakbay Aral will be implemented to benefit the people of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. Councilors George Demaisip, Jose Bretania, Rodolfo Villanueva, Dionisio Caligdong, Manuel Saiotong, Danilo Caro, Alberto Bayona and Luis Perez. DILG Director Ruth Sansiongco, Records Officer Armi Mingoy, SB Staff Josephine Binas. The group was also toured to the Sanggunian building by Vice Mayor Fernandez, who also explained to them the house rules, especially with regards to punctuality of each councilor in attending sessions. The group was particularly awed with the electronic tools being used for SP operations. They were also impressed to see the actual operations of a biometric timekeeper backed up by electronic monitors. Their other purpose in going to Luzon is to see the environmental impact of a power plant in a locality. Mirant Power Plant is applying for the establishment of a coal-fired power plant in Barotac Viejo, a neighboring municipality.
